The staff of the relevant department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has organized interaction with partner law enforcement agencies, special services of foreign countries and international organizations specializing in cyber security with the aim of working out ways to localize the malicious PetyaA software.

“The SBU specialists, in cooperation with experts from the U.S. FBI, the National Crime Agency of the UK [the National Crime Agency – the UK’s lead agency against organized crime], Europol, and leading cyber security institutions are conducting coordinated joint activities to localize the distribution of PetyaA malicious software, the final clarification of methods of implementing this action of cyber terrorism, establishing sources of attack, its executors, organizers and masterminds,” the SBU’s press centre said.

The SBU says mechanisms for the distribution of the virus program, its activation and work algorithms have been established.

“At the same time, work is underway to search for decrypting data that owners have lost and recommendations are being made to stop the spread of the virus, neutralizing other negative consequences of this emergency,” the SBU said.
