You're reading: Top 50 biggest IT employers in Ukraine are named

Software developer community DOU.ua published on Feb. 27 its latest overview of the Ukrainian IT market for the second half of 2016, listing the 50 biggest tech companies in the country, which together employ almost 43,000 people.

The largest employer within the industry is EPAM, which has 4,600 staffers in five Ukrainian cities. The second and the third are SoftServe and Luxoft – with 4,491 and 3,700 workers respectively.

EPAM was in the top spot for the second year in a row.

All previous rankings released by DOU only listed information about the top 25 tech companies. This time, the community published research on 50 of them, because “the industry is growing, getting more mature, and hence needs more information (published) about itself.”

Compared to the study published in July 2016, the number of specialists at the top 25 companies has grown by 1,388 (4.3 percent growth).

The rate of growth, however, has dropped sharply – to 0.2 percent. All the same, from 2011 to 2016 the number of specialists working in the top 25 tech companies doubled.

And the top tech companies are also optimistic about their plans for 2017 – only one company expects to cut staff, while 59 percent of the companies surveyed (39 firms out of the top 50) say they plan to hire more than 50 new employees this year.
