A Ukrainian has become the world’s best cybersportsman in online battle games.

Professional player Danylo Ishutin – nicknamed Dendi – has received a Great Gamers Award for his outstanding achievements in cybersport. Ishutin has been named the best gamer of the year in multiplayer online games like “Dota 2” and “League of Legends.”

“Dendi, one of the best ‘Dota 2’ players of his generation and maybe of all time, reacted to the news with an emotional, “Wow, I won!”, followed by thanks to his fans, family, and team,” the Great Gamers Awards website wrote about Ishutin receiving the international award on Feb. 26 in Cannes, France.

Ishutin, 29, plays for NaVi, a Ukrainian eSports organization with teams and players competing in “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,” “Dota 2,” “FIFA,” “World of Tanks,” and “League of Legends.” NaVi has a team for each game, and Ishutin is the captain of its “Dota 2” squad.

Founded in 2009, NaVi is now a famous European cybersports team, winning numerous international awards.

In 2010, NaVi won three of the world’s main cybersports tournaments: the World Cyber Games, the Intel Extreme Masters, Electronic Sports World Cup. And a year later NaVi won The International, an annual “Dota 2” eSports tournament hosted by Valve Corporation, the game’s developer. The team received $1 million in prize money.
