The Obolonsky District Court in Kyiv will notify former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych by every available method of the forthcoming hearings of his high treason case and remind him of the possibility of participating in the hearings by videoconferencing means, Presiding Judge Vladyslav Deviatko said.

“For the purpose of notifying defendant Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych, the court will again post an announcement in the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper. The announcement will read that defendant Yanukovych may attend the hearings, including by videoconferencing means. No one has cancelled this right, and the court will ensure it,” Deviatko said at the court hearing on August 17, after Vitaliy Meshechek, appointed by the state to defend Yanukovych, disqualified himself.

Similar notices will be published on the Obolonsky Court’s website and sent to every known residential address of Yanukovych, including in Russia, the judge said.
