Some 1.25 million tourists from Ukraine visited Turkey last year, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevliut Cavusoglu said.

“The number of tourists from Ukraine who visited Turkey last year grew by 50 percent. We are happy that we managed to accept 1.25 Ukrainian citizens in our country,” Cavusoglu said at a press conference in Kyiv last week.

“We want to increase the number of citizens who go to us and back. We want to increase the number of tourists,” he said.

In turn, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin thanked Cavusoglu for servicing Ukrainian children from eastern Ukraine in Turkish resorts.

“I want that everyone knows that Mevliut personally, as one of the leading Turkish politicians and simply not indifferent person, organized recreation for children suffered from Russian aggression. It was two large groups,” Klimkin said.

Cavusoglu said that Turkey is ready to take military servicemen and children from the combat zone in 2017.
