1 person dies in light plane crash in Poltava Oblast

Medical workers wait for a call in one of Ukraine's outdated emergency vehicles. Most of the country's ambulances are decades old and need to be replaced. But the government's attempt to overhaul its fleet is falling flat due to a number of factors, including a lack of money, rampant corruption and unrealistic targets.

One person has died and another has suffered injuries in a light plane crash in the Orzhytsia district of Ukraine’s Poltava region, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said in a statement posted on its website on July 8 morning.

“A private light plane crashed near the village of Plekhiv in the Orzhytsia district at 3:32 p.m. on July 7. One person died, and another was taken to a hospital,” the statement said.
