The HQ of the Joint Forces Operation claimed that the government troops released Pivdenne village in Donetsk region. This is mentioned in the message on the HQ’s Facebook page on May 17 evening.
‘The tactical situation of the defenses in the area of Horlivka somewhat improved. The well-planned and prepared actions of the reconnaissance of the 24th brigade allowed them to provide safety for the civilians in Pivdenne (Chygyri). A group of Russia-backed separatists was spotted in the area in early April. They were checking if the locals were loyal to the Ukrainian government, showing their presence there,’ reads the message.
