The French Society of Film Directors (SRF) called for the release of Oleg Sentsov illegally imprisoned in Russia. In particular, the owner of the Golden Palm Branch of the Cannes Film Festival, film director Jacques Audiard (Dheepan, the Prophet) recorded a video message in support of the Ukrainian.
“Oleg Sentsov may be living his last days. Oleg Sentsov is married; a father of two children, with pro-European views, he spoke out against the annexation of Crimea by Vladimir Putin. When he only wanted to use his camera, he was abducted from his home in the Crimea by special services, survived tortures and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for “terrorism.” We believe that there is still time to act, we want to believe in a great victory – a victory that is more important than any football game, – the liberation of Oleg Sentsov, ” Audiard said.
