This was the decision by Colonel Aleksandr Novikov, the chief of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Yamalo-Nenetsky territory. ‘I spoke to Novikov on the colony’s territory. He told me he doesn’t see any point in my visit and decided not to let me in. It is obvious that any reaction of the Russian Federation to attempted visits to see Sentsov is extremely one-sided – ‘don’t’!’, she wrote.
