The UN General Assembly has elected Ukraine to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the period of 2019-2021. This was reported by the press service of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations.

“Membership in ECOSOC will contribute to the implementation of the best international practices in the field of socio-economic reforms in Ukraine. We also plan to use the potential of the UN more actively to address urgent humanitarian problems,” the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko said after the election.
