Police arrested 45 men on suspicion of raid attempt on a farm in Vinnytsya Oblast on May 31. They are detained for two months without bail, Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said on June 3.

The incident took place on May 31 in Metanivka village of Vinnytsya Oblast some 300 kilometers from Kyiv. Dozens of armed men wearing face masks attacked a local farm and opened fire, allegedly trying to take over the farm. Six people were wounded in shootout, according to the National Police.

All were disarmed and arrested by police and arrested for two months without right to bail.

The conflict arose between the farm owner and the owners of property shares, Yaroslav Trakalo, spokesperson for National Police, said in an interview to Channel 112.

Minister Avakov said similar instructions on how to handle raider attacks had been given to National Police departments nationwide.

Raider attacks with the purpose of forced property seizure remain a major issue for businesses in Ukraine, particularly for small-and-medium sized enterprises in agricultural sector.

Among bigger enterprises that came under attacks the best known is the case of Mriya Agro Holding. Its central logistics facility was taken over by armed men in July 2016 as part of the conflict between the current and former owners of the company.
