About 30,000 people took part in the procession in the center of Kyiv on the occasion marking 1,031 years of the Christianization of Kyivan Rus, said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.

“Kyiv. Religious procession. About 30,000 people. It’s quiet. People are singing and praying. No incidents happened,” Avakov wrote on his page on Instagram on July 27.

Earlier this day, thousands of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) began a procession on the occasion of the 1031st anniversary of the Christianization of Kyivan Rus. Parishioners and clergymen went from the Saint Vladimir Hill, where a festive liturgy was held, to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery.

All police units, in particular, experts from the explosives service, detector dog handlers with dogs, special forces, as well as officers from preventive communication, are involved in ensuring public safety.
