Russia granted citizenship to at least 40,000 Ukrainian nationals in the first half of 2018, according to the migration statistical data provided by the Russian Interior Ministry

A total of 39,582 Ukrainians received Russian citizenship in January-June, and 30,462 residence permits were issued to Ukrainian citizens for that time. A total of 160,938 Ukrainians live in Russia with residence permits.

Furthermore, Ukrainian citizens were granted 38,709 temporary residence permits in Russia in the first six months of 2018. A total of 182,197 Ukrainians live in Russia under this kind of permit.

Some 19,400 Ukrainians received Russian citizenship in January-March 2018.

In 2017, a total of 85,119 Ukrainians became Russian citizens.
