Public activists near the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on August 16 demanded additional funding for the treatment program for 118 Ukrainian patients abroad.

According to Valentyna Markevych, one of the organizers of the event, president of the charity fund ‘Assistance to cancer-stricken children,’ the amount requested by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine when considering the issue of increasing the costs for the program – Hr 186 million – does not correspond to real needs.

“Also, we would like to see an opportunity to provide letters to clinics [which guarantee payment by the state for treatment], which are ready to take our children for treatment,” she said.

As reported, on August 8, the Commission of the Health Ministry decided to send 47 patients for treatment abroad at the expense of additional Hr 186 million allocated from the state budget.

Initially, the state budget of 2017 provided Hr 203 million for the program of treatment of citizens abroad. Some 74 people were sent at the expense of these funds for treatment in foreign clinics, including 34 children.
