The Staff Level Agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) opens the way to the 500 million euros macro-financial assistance from the EU for Ukraine, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Ukraine Matti Maasikas has said.

“Much needed and timely conclusion of the Staff Level Agreement, international recognition of ongoing reforms in Ukraine. Together with the recent adoption of anti-money laundering law (final analysis of which still ongoing), should open the way also to the EU macro-financial assistance,” he wrote on his Twitter account in response to a statement of IMF Managing Director and Chair of the Executive Board Kristalina Georgieva regarding the achievement of the agreement on the new three-year program.

In turn, Finance Minister of Ukraine Oksana Markarova wrote on her Facebook page that she expects that the 500 million euros macro-financial assistance will arrive in the coming months.

“Reaching an agreement with the IMF opens the way to receiving 500 million euros of macro-financial assistance from the EU on very favorable terms in the coming months,” Markarova wrote.
