Some 15,000 Kyiv residents and guests of Ukraine’s capital rang in 2019 on Kyiv’s Sofiivska and Kontraktova Squares. Concerts were held in both locations.
Some 12,000 people took part in the celebration on Sofiivska Square, and 3,000 on Kontraktova Square, Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Information Support and Access to Public Information said.
New Year’s concerts on both squares will take place on Jan. 2.
From Dec. 15, the New Year and Christmas festivals continue in Shevchenko Park, where a festive fair works and a free ice rink is installed. A large-scale artistic project, dubbed the “Winter Land of Dreams,” opened on the left bank of the Dnieper River on Dec. 19.
New Year events in Kyiv this year includes more than 70 various venues and concerts, 300 thematic performances and 200 festive events in all districts of the city.
