Six people, including four citizens of Ukraine, have become victims of a cargo ship crash in the Black Sea, which left the port of Azov (located in Rostov region on the banks of the Don and Azovka rivers in Russia) and headed to the Turkish port Samsun, Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey Andrii Sybiha has said.

“Turkey. A merchant ship sank due to weather conditions near the coast of Samsun this morning. There were 11 citizens of Ukraine of the 13 crew members. The coast guard quickly took appropriate measures. Unfortunately, four of our compatriots could not be saved,” Sybiha wrote on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

According to him, the rest seven crew members were taken to various hospitals in the city of Samsun.

“The victims were visited by the governor of the province. They are under proper supervision. The consul went to Samsun. We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and hope for a speedy recovery of the injured,” the Ukrainian diplomat wrote.
