Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during his visit to Canada on September 22 and September 23 could meet Canada’s leadership to discuss the role of the country in the negotiation process on settling the situation in Donbas, Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“We are preparing for the president’s visit to Toronto. The president will come to support the Ukrainian team in the Invictus Games… We also hope that during the visit there would be an opportunity of holding official meetings with Canada’s leadership. We hope that the role of Canada in the negotiation process on settling the conflict with Russia and Canada’s support in our ambitions to move to NATO would be discussed,” he said on the sidelines of the 14th annual YES conference in Kyiv on Saturday.

Shevchenko also said that Ukraine counts on Canada’s support in 2018 when Canada will play host to next year’s meeting of G7 leaders.

He said that during the visit the president will pay great attention to Ukrainian community in Toronto.

As reported, Third Invictus Games will be held in Toronto, Canada, from September 24 until September 30. The tournament will unite more than 550 wounded fighters from 17 countries that will compete in 12 adaptive sports disciplines.
