The Commission for Euro-Atlantic Integration at a meeting on March 21 chaired by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze considered the organization of the implementation of the Annual National Program of NATO-Ukraine cooperation for 2017 and the development of such a program for next year.

“They spoke about the organization of the implementation of the Annual National Program of NATO-Ukraine cooperation for 2017 and the beginning of the development of the program for 2018. The deputy prime minister stressed the importance of this document as the foundation for our country’s cooperation with NATO,” the press service of the deputy prime minister said.

For the first time, monitoring of the implementation of the plans for 2017 with the involvement of civil society will be held. In addition, the annual plan for next year will be developed together with the public.

The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of the Concept of Improving Public Information on Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic Integration for 2017-2020 and the preparation of departmental annual plans.

In addition, the commission discussed strengthening the gender factor in the work of the security and defense sector in accordance with NATO standards and policies. Representatives of the Defense Ministry stressed the need to achieve gender equality in the department and to continue to work on improving military equipment, medicine, etc. for female military personnel.

The need to create an office of a gender commissioner at the government level and appoint an appropriate commissioner at the country level was discussed separately.
