The National Guard of Ukraine has received the first 500 40mm shoulder-fired rocket launchers PSRL-1 (also known as RPG-1) manufactured in the United States, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.

“AirTronic USA in 2016 launched the manufacture of its 40mm RPG-1 complex, which is effective for hitting enemy weapons and armored targets. Effective engagement range is 800 meters, compatible with all existing RPG rocket projectiles. A single launcher is rated for up to 1,000 total lifetime rounds,” the minister wrote on Facebook.

The equipment was supplied under the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s development strategy.

According to Avakov, modern materials are used in the production of the complex, which makes it possible to reduce the weight of the rocket launcher, to simplify operation, extend engagement range and improve the combat capability, while maintaining the effective structure of the prototype.

“The Interior Ministry’s State R&D Institute has developed a training program for personnel and methodology for the use of the new weapons. National Guard members praised the performance of the new complex during military drills. The new powerful modern weapons are now used to defend the country,” the minister wrote.
