You're reading: Avakov, US Chargé d’Affaires discuss elections in Ukraine

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Ukraine William B. Taylor met on Monday to discuss the situation in Ukraine pending the parliamentary elections, as well as exchanged views on resetting power in the country.

The ministry’s communications department said Avakov had assured Taylor of the ability of his ministry to ensure public order and stability of government, as well as to resolutely oppose any attempts at destabilizing the early parliamentary election by illegal means.

The two officials also discussed various issues of U.S.-Ukraine technical cooperation in the sphere of public security and future areas of attracting U.S. support for strengthening and development systems of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry.
