BBC: Poroshenko says Ukraine wants membership plan talks

Ukraine’s president has asked for discussions to begin on an action plan that could eventually lead to membership of NATO.

NATO has had a partnership with Ukraine for over 20 years. Ukraine is one of the biggest beneficiaries of NATO Trust Funds. The funds have paid for various projects including financial support for political and security sector reforms, help with cyber defence and medical rehabilitation for Ukrainian soldiers.
