Officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine have heightened security measures along the state border on the eve of New Year and Orthodox Christmas to ensure safe and comfortable traffic through the border.

“During New Year and [Orthodox] Christmas holidays special attention will be paid to checking nationals of countries with a high migration risk. Travel documents will be checked with special scrutiny and measures will be taken to prevent arms, explosives, radioactive items, and means of terror to be taken across the border,” the press service of the State Border Guard Service has said.

All the checkpoints on the administrative border with temporarily occupied Crimea and along the demarcation line in Donbas will work as usual. “Limitations may be imposed solely in case of the deterioration of the security situation there and threats to people’s lives,” the press service said.

The press service said that travelers can inquire about the border crossing procedures by calling a landline in Kyiv at +380 44 527 6363.
