You're reading: British PM Johnson Holds Latest Call with Ukraine’s Zelensky on War Update, Food Security

A readout of a phone call between British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky covered “military support” from London and “global food security,” a London statement said.

In particular, Zelensky updated the British prime minister on the “ongoing fight to regain all of Ukraine’s sovereign territory and counter Russian disinformation in contested areas.”

Following London’s latest provision of 1.3 billion pounds of assistance to Kyiv, the readout mentioned British “long-range artillery, shore-to-ship missiles and unmanned drones” being supplied to the war-torn country.

They both spoke about the concern that Russia’s unprovoked invasion of the country and ongoing blockade of Ukrainian ports to ship grain and produce poses a looming global food security risk.

“The Prime Minister raised his significant concerns about the growing global fallout from Russia’s illegal invasion and President Putin’s craven and reckless blockade of Ukraine’s Black Sea ports, including rising food prices in developing countries,” the readout said.
