BRUSSELS – Brussels will revisit the allocation of a new tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 500 million euros after the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament.

A high-ranking European diplomat said this in Brussels on July 5 prior to the Ukraine-EU summit, which will be held in Kyiv on July 8, in response to a question about a possible date for granting such assistance.

“There is currently no exact date for the allocation of the macro-financial assistance in the amount of 500 million euros, which still remains to be paid. For this (to be allocated), a number of measures still need to be implemented, which, in particular, require a number of questions to be voted by parliament before the election,” he explained.

In this regard, the senior diplomat said he expected that “everything will happen very quickly after the elections.”

“All our macro-financial assistance depends on the IMF [International Monetary Fund] program, to which they also plan to return in September, after the elections. This is the moment when we look at the conditions that are still remaining,” he added.
