The Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) calls upon foreign states and international organizations that intend to send their observers to the presidential elections in Ukraine on March 31 to carefully select them due to the fact that Ukraine has criminalized a number of actions due to Russian aggression.

“The Commission draws attention of all foreign states and international organizations that intend to monitor the electoral process, that the provisions of the law “On the features of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions” the Russian Federation is recognized as the aggressor state, committing a crime against Ukraine and carrying out a temporary occupation of part of its territory,” the media relations department of the CEC secretariat said.

In addition, the Commission notes that at present there is a criminal liability for crossing the state border of Ukraine in order to harm the interests of the state or by a person who is denied entry into the territory of Ukraine, or representatives of units of the armed forces or other security agencies of the aggressor state outside checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine or at checkpoints without relevant documents or with documents containing inaccurate information.

“In this regard, the CEC asks foreign states and international organizations to take this information into account when deciding to send official observers,” the message said.
