The Chinese government has not changed its position on Crimea in the context of the situation around Motor Sich, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Enin said following a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Fan Xianrong.

“I held a meeting with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine, during which, among other things, the issue of the recent visit of a Chinese business delegation to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was raised. I once again conveyed signals to the Chinese side that such steps are not only considered by the Ukrainian government as unfriendly, but they also grossly violate the current legislation of our state. Examples were given when such visits had extremely undesirable consequences for the relevant foreign companies and their representatives,” Enin wrote on his Facebook page.

According to Enin, Ambassador Fan Xianrong assured of the invariability of the Chinese government’s approaches to the temporary occupation of Crimea, in particular, to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

“It was noted that the comments of certain politicians and experts regarding the alleged change in the position of the Chinese government regarding Crimea in the context of the situation around Motor Sich have nothing to do with the reality. Continuing the topic of Motor Sich, I conveyed to the Chinese side a signal that Ukraine respected and will respect foreign investments, and will strictly adhere to the international obligations assumed in this area!” Enin said.

As reported, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said that PJSC Motor Sich (Zaporizhia) would soon be legally returned to the Ukrainian people.
