People over 65 follow quarantine guidelines and the most affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) is within the 18-49 age group, Deputy Health Minister and Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Liashko has said.

“Among people with the disease, those between 30-49 years old are the most ill – almost 38%, between the ages of 18-29 years old – 17%, 50-65 years old – 30%. People 65 and older account for only 6% of all cases. Among those who are ill, people aged 18-49 account for almost half. This indicates that the older age group listens to recommendations, adheres to quarantine measures and limits its mobility,” Liashko said during a briefing in Kyiv on March 27.

Liashko said people between 18 -49 remain frivolous about the danger that hangs over the whole world, including Ukraine.

“We took preventive measures earlier than the others. You must adhere to the recommendations. We must not allow the situation in Spain, Italy, France to be repeated here. Our task is to limit mobility, contacts, and self-isolation. This is the only way to save the economy. Without this, no method will work. Then there will only be tough preventive measures,” he said.

As reported, in Ukraine on the morning of March 27, 218 COVID-19 cases were recorded, 62 more than on March 26.
