The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will consider the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in the cases “Lutsenko vs. Ukraine” and “Tymoshenko vs. Ukraine”, Head of the Council of Europe’s Head of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights Pavlo Pushkar has said.

“The Council of Ministers will consider the case of [Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia] Tymoshenko and [Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy] Lutsenko versus Ukraine in September,” he said in Kyiv on March 22 during a roundtable on enforcement and application of practices of the ECHR judgments in the public prosecutor’s activities.

According to Pushkar, the execution of these rulings will be considered in the context of the institutional independence of the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office, both internally and externally.

The cases in question deal with the violation of human rights under Article 5 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
