Participants in the Contact Group on the settlement in eastern Ukraine may start discussing the implementation mechanism for the so-called Macron formula with truce and exchanging prisoners as top priority issues at their next meeting in Minsk on July 5, a source in a group that organizes the talks told Interfax.
“In its work, the Contact Group will take into account the proposals made by French President Emmanuel Macron and study available mechanisms to put them into reality. Special attention will be paid to the elaboration of mechanisms to settle security issues,” the source said.
French President Emmanuel Macron met earlier with his Ukrainian counterpart to propose a plan on measures to intensify the implementation of the Minsk accords. The plan envisages such first steps to take as complete observance of the ceasefire by the conflicting parties, the release of detained persons and a free access to all Donbas areas for OSCE monitors.
