MINSK – The Trilateral Contact Group welcomed the handover by Donetsk to Ukraine of 19 people not linked to the conflict, Martin Sajdik, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) special representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, said.

The humanitarian subgroup again discussed prisoner swap issues, Sajdik told journalists in Minsk on Sept.20.

The group’s coordinator noted with satisfaction last week’s release by Donetsk of 19 non-conflict-related prisoners to Ukraine, he said.

Hopefully, Luhansk will follow suit, he said.

The economic subgroup discussed water-supply issues, Sajdik said. It was noted that the water-supply system is functioning smoothly, an important achievement for the population, he said.

The subgroup also discussed critical infrastructure security, Sajdik said.

The political subgroup continued discussing the Steinmeier formula and its implementation, the OSCE special representative said.

On Sept. 14 the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s republic handed over to Ukraine 19 convicts who were serving time in the DPR and expressed the wish to serve the remainder of their sentences at Ukraine’s penitentiaries.
