You're reading: Court arrests two more former regional tax heads from Klymenko era

Kyiv’s Appeals Court has ruled on pretrial confinement for two more former tax officials in its so-called illegal tax schemes investigation, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) of Ukraine press service has said.

“On June 22, 2017 Kyiv’s Appellate Court approved the request of the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office on pretrial custody of two ex heads of district state tax inspection offices in Kyiv. The men served during the term of disgraced ex-President Viktor Yanukovych and his tax chief Klymenko,” the press release said.

The PGO’s press service said one of the former tax officials was remanded to pretrial confinement, setting bail at Hr 5 million. The court set bail was set at Hr 2 million or pretrial confinement for the second suspect.

Ukraine’s Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoliy Matios on his Facebook page on June 22 said of the 23 suspects arrested in this case.
