You're reading: Court denies request to arrest Yushchenko’s property

Ukraine’s third president Viktor Yushchenko has said Kyiv’s Pechersky district court has not approved the motion filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) on arresting his property in the case involving his alleged assistance to ex-President Viktor Yanukovych in acquiring the Mezhyhirya estate outside Kyiv.

“On July 9, 2019, Pechersky district court turned down the PGO request to arrest Yushchenko’s property,” Yushenko said on Facebook on July 10, adding that the case involving him is politically motivated.

“Society sees and evaluates how gradually responsibility has practically been removed from all suspects in big cases involving separatism, state treason and murders on Independence Square in Kyiv. That’s why it is necessary to look for new big cases and imitate active work,” he said.
