Kyiv’s Sviatoshynsky District Court has granted a request of the prosecution to extend pre-trial detention until March 17 for five former Berkut riot policemen Pavlo Abroskin, Serhiy Zinchenko, Oleksandr Marynchenko, Serhiy Tamtura and Oleh Yanishevsky, who are accused of murdering 48 activists on Maidan (Independence Square) in Kyiv in February 2014.
The court issued a relevant ruling at its meeting on Jan. 17.
As earlier reported, on Feb. 16, the court merged the proceedings against these five officers of the Interior Ministry’s Berkut riot police into a single criminal case.
