The Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv has extended for two months the pre-trial preventive measure for suspended head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Roman Nasirov in the form of custody with an option of bail.

The ruling was read out by Presiding Judge Viktoriya Kytsiuk on April 27, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Later on April 27, the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine clarified that since Nasirov was bailed out on March 16 the court simply extended the requirement for Nasirov to wear the electronic tracking device for two more months.

As reported, NABU detectives on March 2 presented charges against Nasirov and apprehended him in the Feofania hospital outside Kyiv. He is suspected of committing a crime pursuant to Part 2 of Article 364 (embezzlement) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) suspects that Nasirov during the period from May 2015 to March 2016 adopted a number of groundless and illegal decisions allowing the payment of rent by installments for the use of mineral resources by the companies involved in MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko’s so-called ‘gas scheme,’ which caused damage to the state for a total of Hr 2 billion.

On March 7, the Solomyansky district court remanded Nasirov to pretrial confinement for two months, setting bail at Hr 100 million.

On March 16, Nasirov’s wife posted Hr 100 million bail for him. The court obliged Nasirov to transfer all his foreign passports and other travel documents to the State Migration Service. After this the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said it will request the arrest of Nasirov’s property.
