Kherson District Administrative Court on Friday partially satisfied a claim filed by individuals to overturn a decision by Kherson City Council to rename the city’s Lutheran Street in honor of murdered local activist Kateryna Gandziuk.

“Kherson District Administrative Court partially satisfied the claim by recognizing unlawful and by cancelling respective paragraphs and sections of the Kherson City Council decision where ‘Kateryna Handziuk Street’ is mentioned,” the Sudova Vlada Ukrainy (court.gov.ua) website said.

In addition, the court recognized as illegal the actions of Kherson Mayor Volodymyr Mykolayenko during the voting on February 22 this year, when the decision to rename the street in honor of Gandziuk was passed.

The parties have the right to appeal this court ruling within 30 days from the date when the full court ruling is made available.
