The Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv has postponed a preparatory meeting in the case against Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on charges of high treason until 09:00 on June 16.

At its meeting on May 29, the defense team requested postponing the meeting due to the end of the working day, as well as for giving the prosecution time to study the materials attached to the case by defense lawyers on May 29, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Yanukovych is charged with committing offences under Part 5 of Article 27 (complicity in the crime), Part 3 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which led to the death of people or other grave consequences, punishable by seven to twelve years in prison), Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason, punishable by imprisonment for a period of ten to fifteen years), Part 2 of Article 437 (holding an aggressive war or aggressive military actions, punishable by imprisonment for a period of ten to fifteen years) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
