Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court has ruled to apply a pretrial restriction in the form of detention with an alternative of a Hr 6 million bail for former Health Minister of Ukraine Raisa Bohatyriova, who was detained at Zhuliany airport (Kyiv) on August 27.

“The court chose a pretrial restriction in the form of detention for 60 days with an alternative of a Hr 6 million bail,” the Kyiv prosecutor’s office told Interfax-Ukraine.

As reported, Bohatyriova returned to the country and was immediately transferred to the officers of the National Police of Ukraine.

“Bohatyriova has returned to Ukraine. She was handed over to the National Police at Zhuliany airport,” the report states.

Bohatyriova is suspected of embezzlement of state funds on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On September 16, 2016, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine appealed to Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court to obtain permission to conduct a special pretrial investigation (in absentia) against Bohatyriova due to the fact that the suspect intentionally evaded the investigation and the court.
