The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 15,232 as of 10 a.m. on May 10, according to Ukraine’s health ministry. In total, 391 people have died from the disease in Ukraine and 3,060 patients have recovered.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has identified 522 new COVID-19 cases and only 154 people have recovered. The number of daily recoveries went down compared to several days prior, when the health ministry reported that around 300 people recovered every day.
Ukraine has carried out 176,403 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, the most accurate way of diagnosing COVID-19. Out of them, 9,296 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, a record daily number.
Chernivtsi Oblast in western Ukraine remains the hotbed of the disease with 2,268 confirmed cases. It is followed by Kyiv with 1,805 cases and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with 1,116 cases. The numbers indicate the cases confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic, not the active cases.
The highest number of new cases diagnosed in one day, 578 cases, was reported on April 22. After that, the daily number of new cases generally ranged from 400 and 550, without a clear downward trend.
