Ukraine has recorded 612 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on July 13.

At the moment, there are 26,232 active cases in the country. The total number of infections in Ukraine stands at 54,133; a total of 26,503 citizens have recovered and 1,398 have died of the disease.

Among all cases registered in Ukraine, 3,880 are children and 7,425 are medical workers.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine recorded 15 new deaths from COVID-19, 110 patients have been hospitalized and 385 have recovered. The highest numbers of new cases were registered Lviv Oblast (104), Rivne Oblast (99), and Zakarpatya Oblast (79).

A total of 6,976 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 3,548 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on July 13.

Although the number of COVID-19 infections in Ukraine is still high, the country has opened its international borders. Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Krykliy said that the government is working to speed up the installation of laboratories in airports in Kyiv and Lviv to ensure that arriving passengers can get a PCR test on the spot. People with negative results will not have to self-isolate for 14 days.

To avoid crowding near the labs, Krykliy is working with the Ministry of Digital Transformation to allow travelers to receive test results via the Diy Vdoma coronavirus isolation app.

Globally, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached over 13 million as of July 13; over 571,700 people have died and 7.6 million patients have recovered.

The United States, Brazil, India and Russia have the highest numbers of cases. Ukraine ranks 36th in the world by total number of cases but has done significantly fewer tests since the beginning of the outbreak compared to other countries.
