You're reading: COVID-19 in Ukraine: 727 dead, 24,340 cases, 328 new infections

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Ukraine as of 9 a.m. on June 2 has reached 24,340, with the death toll rising to 727, according to fresh figures published by the country’s Ministry of Health.

In total, 10,078 people have recovered from the disease, and 328 new cases have been registered, 9 people have died and 388 have recovered over the last 24 hours.

Chernivtsi Oblast remains the country’s worst-hit region, with 3,410 confirmed cases. It is followed by the city of Kyiv (3,071 cases), Rivne Oblast (1,823 cases), and Lviv Oblast (1,734 cases). These figures represent all cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, not just active ones.

Out of all the patients, 1,747 are children and 4,682 are medical workers. According to the statistics, 16,896 patients are receiving or have received ambulatory medical care, while a total of 7,444 persons have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Among hospitalized patients, 286 required lung ventilators.

In total, Ukrainian medical workers have conducted a total of 371,668 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 15,615 antibody (IFA) tests for COVID-19 to date.

In the last 24 hours, medical workers have carried out a total of 12,556 tests, including 8,097 PCR and 4,459 IFA tests.

In Kyiv, 1 person has died and 28 new cases have been registered, according to the May Vitaliy Klitschko.

The first coronavirus case was discovered among the officials of the Ministry of Health’s central office in Kyiv on June 1, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during his morning briefing on June 2.

All persons who had contact with the official were tested, and some of them were sent for self-isolation, Stepanov said.
