Ukraine has recorded 809 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on July 17.

At the moment, there are 26,039 active cases in the country. The total number of infections identified in Ukraine since the start of the pandemic stands at 57,264; a total of 29,769 citizens have recovered and 1,456 have died of the disease.

Of all cases registered in Ukraine, 4,068 are children and 7,723 are medical workers.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine recorded 11 new deaths from COVID-19, 211 patients have been hospitalized and 838 have recovered. The highest numbers of new cases were registered in Lviv Oblast (132), Rivne Oblast (88), Kyiv (76) and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (67).

A total of 13,108 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 14,911 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on July 17.

Because the number of cases in the country is still high, Ukraine cannot lift all quarantine restrictions on July 31, as was previously planned. In an interview with the RBK-Ukraine news outlet on July 15, Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said Ukraine will extend the COVID-19 quarantine until at least September.

Globally, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached over 13.9 million as of July 17; over 592,757 people have died and 8.3 million patients have recovered.

The United States, Brazil, India, and Russia have the highest numbers of cases.
