Ukraine has identified 990 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on Aug. 3. There are currently 31,544 active cases across the country and 4,772 people are receiving treatment in hospitals, including 125 patients on lung ventilators.
Of all new COVID-19 cases, 91 were diagnosed among children and 44 among medical workers. The largest numbers of new cases were registered in Lviv Oblast (138), Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (119) and Kyiv (102).
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 13 deaths from COVID-19, 158 patients have been hospitalized and 333 have recovered.
Lviv Oblast leads the tally with the highest number of active cases per 100,000 people (289.2), followed by Zakarpattia Oblast (239.7) and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (226), according to the Center for Public Health.
The total number of infections identified in Ukraine since the start of the pandemic stands at 73,158. A total of 39,876 people have recovered and 1,738 have died of the disease.

In total, 8,523 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 3,191 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on August 3.
On Aug. 2, the health ministry released an updated list of “green” and “red” countries — those where the COVID-19 situation is better and worse than in Ukraine, respectively. Foreigners arriving in Ukraine from green zone countries have to present medical insurance covering COVID-19. Those coming from the red zone have to have medical insurance and either take a PCR test or self-quarantine for 14 days with the tracking app Diy Vdoma.

Today, on Aug. 3, new rules for COVID-19 quarantine come into force in Ukraine: communities, rather than entire regions, are now divided by green, yellow, orange, and red levels of severity of COVID-19 spread. The authorities in districts, cities, and towns will have to tighten or relax quarantine restrictions in accordance. The levels are based upon four indicators that will be reviewed every five days.
