You're reading: Czech Republic expresses support for Ukraine

The Czech Republic has expressed solidarity and support to Ukraine and stated the need to strengthen the security and defense rallying of the international community, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.

“On April 9, 2019, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar met with a delegation of deputies of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic headed by the committee chairman Lubomir Zaoralek,” the message said.

As noted, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for the development of cooperation in the Eastern Partnership format, discussed the election race to the European Parliament and the importance of the distribution of political forces in its new composition for the general direction of European policy.

In addition, the Ukrainian side familiarized the participants with the situation around the electoral process in Ukraine, public sentiments, the dangers of Russian interference and the need to increase further joint efforts to combat hybrid threats from Russia.

Also, the Czech delegation was informed about the state of Ukraine’s internal policy following the first stage of the decentralization of authorities.

In addition, at the request of the Czech side, an assessment was made of Ukraine’s cooperation with the EU countries, the U.S. and China in the field of foreign policy.

The delegation of the Czech parliament also plans to visit Kherson and Odesa.
