  • Investigators and an ex-official launched two new investigations against Poroshenko. On Aug. 5, the State Investigations Bureau initiated its 12th criminal investigation against the former president.
  • Prosecutors also revived cases against Zlochevsky and Poroshenko allies. The Prosecutor General’s Office on Aug. 6 revived a criminal case against top allies of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, summoning them to be questioned on Aug. 12.
  • Controversial far-right group wins its court case against Hromadske television. A far-right Ukrainian nationalist group C14 (pronounced “Sich”) has won a lawsuit against independent television channel Hromadske, which the group alleges damaged its reputation by labeling it “neo-Nazi.”
  • Lutsenko says will step down as soon as new parliament starts work. The Prosecutor General of Ukraine says he will step down as soon as the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation starts work.
  • Volker disappointed with new ceasefire violations in Donbas. U.S. State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker said on August 6 that he was disappointed with new violations of the so-called “harvest” ceasefire in eastern Ukraine and the death of Ukrainian soldiers.
