Valeria Gontareva’s House Outside Kyiv Was Destroyed by an incendiary attack, according to a preliminary police investigation. Gontareva, the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine, made many enemies whilst cleaning up corruption in the banking sector. In recent weeks, she had been hit by a car in London, her other Kyiv residence was searched by armed men and her son’s car was also burned down by unknown parties in Kyiv.

The National Bank of Ukraine blasted the arson attack as a “direct and undisguised threat to democracy” and called for law enforcement bodies to investigate.

A Compromise With Oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky over the fate of PrivatBank may be in the works, according to a Financial Times article, which quoted Prime Minister Andrii Honcharuk. The Prime Minister’s office released a statement refuting the article, saying that his quote was taken out of context.
