  • President Petro Poroshenko agreed to stadium debate, but insisted on April 14. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says he has accepted challenger Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s suggestion to hold a debate at Kyiv’s Olympiyskiy Stadium ahead of this month’s presidential runoff, but the two still appear divided on the date for the event.
  • Poroshenko commented on the possibility of compensation being paid to Kolomoisky for PrivatBank. Unreformed Ukrainian courts of first instance could award compensation to former owner of PrivatBank Ihor Kolomoisky in connection with the bank’s nationalization, Poroshenko has stated. “We have a huge number of proceedings on PrivatBank. Moreover, the lion’s share [of them] is in unreformed courts of first instance.” Read the latest here.
  • Office of Russia’s VTB bank was sold in Kyiv for Hr 350 million. Ukraine’s Deposit Guarantee Fund, a state body responsible for protecting bank depositors’ rights, on April 10 sold a 28,190-square-meter office belonging to VTB Ukraine, the collapsed Ukrainian subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned VTB Group of banks.   • Poroshenko sacked Odesa governor Stepanov. The president has dismissed the head of Odesa Regional State Administration Maksym Stepanov and appointed First Deputy Head of the regional administration Serhiy Parashchenko as acting head.
  • Zelenskiy called for unity in his new election campaign video. “We are the ones who were divided into the right and the wrong, the Little Russians and “those wearing embroidered shirts” (vyshyvankas), those who are called thuggish groups, clowns, and Ukes…” presidential candidate Zelenskiy said.
  • Hundreds of lesbian activists to meet in Kyiv on April 11-14. About 350 lesbian activists are to meet in Kyiv on April 11-14 to discuss their rights and challenges at the second European and Central Asian Lesbian Conference or EL*C. Read more here.
