2019 Presidential Election
- The Central Election Commission counted over 99 percent of the votes. Volodymyr Zelenskiy — 30.24 percent, Petro Poroshenko — 15.95 percent. Read all updates and developments from Election Day here.
- Ukrainians have urged Zelenskiy and Poroshenko to debate. Both formally accepted the challenge but Zelenskiy went further: He invited President to debate at the Olimpiysky stadium. Watch the video here
- Zelenskiy team also rolled out a list of demands for President Poroshenko to fulfill before the end of his term.
- Army has been one of the three pillars of President Poroshenko’s re-election campaign but the vote results from the military polling stations show: He has lost the soldiers’ support.
- In Donetsk Oblast, allegations of vote rigging in favor of Poroshenko during the March 31 presidential election have emerged.
In non-election news
- Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman banned state gas producer Naftogaz from raising consumer gas prices, Reuters reported. A move comes less than three weeks before the vote and is seen as an attempt to boost Poroshenko’s re-election chances.
- At the same time, the government retroactively allowed Naftogaz to lower gas prices for the population from April 1 from Hr 8.55 ($0.32) to Hr 8.38 for cubic meter
- Ukrainian government banned all irregular flights to Russia, except for flights of international missions, after two opposition politicians Yuriy Boyko and Viktor Medvedchuk had flown to Moscow to meet with Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev on March 22.
- 19-year-old snowboarder from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Mykhailo Khairuk, won a gold medal at the World Junior Championship in Slovenia.
