  • Earlier this week, we reported that French President Emmanuel Macron had told Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia cannot return to the Group of Seven (G7) until it ends its war in Ukraine. Well, now the situation has gotten more complicated: On Aug. 21, CNN reported that Trump wants Russia to rejoin the G7 next year and Macron had agreed to it, citing senior sources in the Trump Administration. Later, French diplomatic sources and then Macron reiterated that Russia’s reentry to the G7 depends on resolving the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported. Who to trust: Macron or the Trump Administration?
