Here’s the latest political news from the Kyiv Post:

  • New poll shows president’s party, four others will reach parliament. The parties making it into the upcoming parliament, according to polls, are Sluga Narodu, Opposition Platform, European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna and Holos.
  • Pro-Russia opposition union reveals candidates for parliamentary elections. The less popular pro-Russian party is led by former members of the Party of Regions and the Mayors of Kharkiv, Odesa, Mariupol, Zaporizhia and Uzhhorod.
  • Zelenskiy appoints Abromavicius to Ukroboronprom supervisory board. The state-owned defense corporation was hit by a massive corruption scandal in late February. Former Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavicius, will be tasked with bringing back the confidence of Ukrainian taxpayers.
  • Administration head Bohdan asks to postpone offshore gas extraction tender. According to Bohdan two months is not enough to ensure a fair and transparent tender for such a “large-scale project.” Energy Minister Igor Nasalyk doesn’t agree.

  • Swedish example touted as good way to fight prostitution, human trafficking. In Sweden criminalizing the act of sex buying decreased both prostitution and human trafficking. The system created in Sweden works in many developed countries – France, Canada, Ireland, Norway and Israel.
  • Customers mourn loss of British-Ukrainian bakery. Sad news for bread lovers in Bradford, UK, where a Ukrainian bakery closes its doors after 58 years in service.
